Taekwondo

Taekwondo has been founded in Korea and is one of the popular modern martial arts. It is a system of symmetrical body exercises or techniques designed for self defense and counterattack in unarmed combat, making use of the hands and feet as weapons and defenses. It is also referred to as "The art of Kicking and Punching" or "The art of unarmed combat". However, Taekwondo is not merely a physical skill; it is also a way of thought and life. Through strict discipline, Taekwondo trains both the body and the mind placing great emphasis on the development of moral character. Taekwondo characterized by its fast, high and spinning kicks. Taekwondo helps:

  • Develop a sense of responsibility for one self and others.

Taekwondo has no age limits and is a very good sport for children. They learn fast reactions through games learn to respect others and learn to know their abilities and disabilities.
Competition rules are a bit different for children then they are for adults. Although children wear full body protection (preferably thicker than the protection for adults) only kicks and punches to the body are allowed, no kicks to the head.
