Karate

A Japanese art of self-defense in which sharp blows and kicks are administered to pressure-sensitive points on the body of an opponent. The well-rounded teachings of karate can positively impact children by enhancing their life-skills and placing emphasis on their values and attitudes. Karate employs techniques that build strength, endurance, flexibility, posture, balance and coordination. Research reflects that competitive sports are good for children who excel these. But for children who cannot   excel at them, these sports can lead to diminished feelings of self-worth. Karate is an excellent confidence building opportunity for children as it eliminates the need for them to compete or compare themselves to their peers. Instead, karate encourages children to draw on their own strengths and strive for their personal best. Karate not only intends to teach children how to fight but helps learn fighting skills to develop stronger bodies. The purpose of karate-do is the development of the mind and character through rigorous physical training.
