Calligraphy

Calligraphy is a type of visual art, more precisely it’s the art of lettering that has endured nearly as long as the history of man kind. It is also referred to as the skill of ornamental lettering. Calligraphy is commonly found in documents from China, Japan, medieval European monks, the United States and many other places. Learning calligraphy vitalizes children creativity and attention to its details helps children improve their penmanship.

Objectives

  • A highly concentrated mental activity that coordinating mind, body, and spirit.
  • Through the course, children get the opportunity to grasp the depth and breadth of their culture, allowing them to get in touch with their inner self in a busy metropolitan environment.
  • Children are taught the system of writing in the language, which is an important key to understanding and appreciating local art, history and culture.
  • When calligraphy work shops are offered to involve children in team work then this  teamwork is what teaches the children mutual confidence and respect and  encourages development of fine motor coordination.
  • As with any art form, calligraphy tends to help calm the children, allow new insights into thought patterns about other matters in life.
  • For children well-formed calligraphy lettering is a life-long developmental asset and is also a life long effort, children get  better the more the skill is used and it becomes more satisfying with each additional experience.
